Three pigs, Two Murdered & One Survives.

Walt: write a news style report Byline:Tuesday 13 May 2015, Venetia Joyce, Pt England. Two little pigs have recently been killed by a violent wolf after their mother kicked them out of her house. The two pigs were killed brutally in their own homes. The third brother has survived, as he was smart enough to trap and burn the wolf. Unfortunately the first two pigs built homes out of materials that were not strong enough. The first pig built a house out of straw, the wolf blew his house down and ate him. The second pig made a house out of sticks and wood, his house was not strong enough so the wolf blew his house down and eat him too. The third pig managed to survive.  The wolf huffed and puffed and tried to blow the third pig's house down but his house was too heavy because it was made out of brick. When the wolf was climbing down the chimney the pig made a trap. He got a pot of water and put it on the fire to boil. When the wolf fell down into the water he was killed and burnt. Mama pig, do you regret kicking your children out? Well I do but they were old enough to look after there self. I feel really guilty. Mama pig, Would you ever let your children live with you again? Yes I would , Just to keep them safe ish. How would you react if the wolf turned up to your house? I would be really scared because my house isn’t strong enough. He would probably eat me . How do you feel about your younger brothers dying? I feel really sad because they could of come in my house. I am really upset for the loss of my loved ones. Task Description:The task was to write a news report about the three little pigs. We had to write a the first part about the main facts about the story.Then we had to write two paragraphs one about the two first pigs murders and the third pigs survival. The last part is a interview to the mama pig.

Who Cares about Penguins?

Walt: know that other people might take a different judgement from the same information.

 Our task was to write about what people think about the care of penguins. We had to read the text and try and find out what they think about penguins. We had to try and think of there opinion and write it as a answer. 

Newspaper Tower

Walt: write a detailed introduction with hook and orientation.
Have you ever had a class challenge where you have to make a newspaper tower? Our teacher is pretty crazy, first it was chicken worms now this, too much coffee. This is how it went down.

We came in to our literacy class just like always until our teacher said “okay guys put your netbooks away in a safe place”. So we did. We got into groups of 5 and sat down our groups. The people in my group were Presayus , Lani , Olivia , Rosa and me. We were given materials such as 5 and a half sheets of paper a long strip of masking tape and a pair of scissors.  Our group name was Rosalina’s group.

Mr Godwin then said “okay when I say go you will start making your tower, you only have eight minutes”.  Screaming and shouting is what we were doing . We didn't know what to do until Rosa said “I know what to do, we’ll make a triangle”.

Our group then started to make a triangle.  Once we made our triangle we had to give it some support so we got some paper and stuck it underneath the triangle. The teacher said “two minutes to go”, we panicked a little but we got over it. Mr Goodwin then said “Times up”, we were quite happy with what we produced until we started doing measurements. Rosalina then went to go and grab the ruler, Mr Goodwin measured ours and Talitas team. We were hoping that we won until Mr Goodwin said “by half an inch Talitas team has won”. We were a bit disappointed.  And that is my Newspaper tower recount.

Description
Our task was to make a paper tower using limited materials. It had to be the tallest. Our task was write a interesting story about what had happen. I learnt that it can be hard working in groups but  if you just keep calm and carry on you will be a good group.

My camp experience

Walt: organise my ideas into paragraphs and link them together.

Allstars Allstars whoop there it is.  Did you know that this camp was the 25th anniversary? Yup our school camp has been going on for 25 years.

Sleeping in tents, getting up early and secretly eating in the night, what a fun camp. Our Year 5 & 6 camp is when all the students of Classes 6 , 7 , 8, 9 and 10 have an outdoor experience on our school field, even though its on our school field we get to have lots of fun. We get to sleep in tents, since there is so many tents we call it Tent city. The people in my tent were Adriel and Lahval.  On our first night we got to watch a movie, the movie we watched was The Lego Movie.The next night we have our concert, each group gets to perform.  

One of my camp highlights were Killzone, well actually it used to be called Top Tower. The reason I liked it was because we did it as a team, we tried hard and used our strength. Even though we won our round we didn't win the whole game. My favourite part of it was the balloon fight. The balloons were our ammunition. It was a hard but fun challenge, I really enjoyed it.

My other highlight was Kayaking. I liked Kayaking because when I was in the double Kayak with Waimaria she nearly fell out. It was fun because when I was in the single Kayak I was going really fast. It was extra fun because I got an easter egg from Miss Va’afusuaga for being a good Kayaker and listening to all instructions. Have you ever been Kayaking before?

I think camp this year was really fun because I enjoyed everything and had a great time. Camp is awesome. I’d like to do it again but unfortunately I can’t because I am a year 6. Well atleast I had a fantastic time, plus I've got Kawau Island to go to.

Chicken worms!

Walt: write a detailed introduction with hook and orientation.
Has your teacher ever fed you juicy chicken worms? It was just a normal day until our teacher said today we are experimenting with chicken worms. Read on and see what happened. Rubric marked by Talita.

This task was about juicy chicken worms. The task was telling me to write an introduction about what happen. We had a challenge. Our challenge was to write an introduction using one question, one complex sentence and one short sentence.

The Duffy Show.

Walt: Follow the structure of a recount to produce a piece of writing. 

On Monday we went to the Duffy show.The Duffy show is a show where people come to schools and encourage students and teachers to read. The characters were Sienna, Duffy and The librarian, in fact the liberian actually played more than one character. Sienna is one of the characters, she is the girl who doesn't like reading until.. Duffy and his crew encourage students to read, because reading is cool and if you imagine things you will be in another world. That is the Duffy Show.

First we got ready and lined up in our year 5 and 6 porch. . My class then went to the hall and sat down in our same lines. Duffys crew then came out, they introduced themselves. We played a little game of Simon says and then Duffy ran out. He came with a few books and his guitar. He introduced himself and then we sang the Duffy song.. Once we sang the song the show started.

They started the show of with Sienna not liking school and reading.  One day Duffy saw Sienna by herself so he took her to the library . She then said to Duffy “Duffy I hate school and reading” so he then helped her read more. She started to like reading, she read a dinosaur book, she thought she was in dinosaur world. She said to Duffy “ Oh Duffy thanks for letting me use these books “. She started getting high marks in school as well.  

Then Sienna red a garden book, she really liked it. She could imagine things, like a lady singing “Tinka tinka tinka tinka tinka  lalala” It was so catchy. Duffy asked her “ What do you like Sienna” she said Uhmm Gardening.So from then she started gardening. At the end of the Duffy show they sang a little rap about reading. We then went back to class once it was all over.

And that is what you call a Duffy Show. Duffy is a person who loves to read. He is an encourager. Do you think Duffy is a cool person? It was a hilarious show .  

This task was telling me to do a recount about the Duffy show and what happened. I learnt what reading can do to help you and how it can help you succeed in life. It was telling me to use details and vocab.

Holiday Highlight

WALT: Follow the structure of a recount to write about a holiday highlight

During the school holidays my cousin Jeremiah came to New Zealand. He came to my house for a week. After a few days my mum then asked us

“Do you guys want to go somewhere this week” , I replied “Yes”. The next day we went out .

Mum yelled and said “Hurry up get ready we're going to the movies” , so we did. We then drove to Sylvia park. Once we got to the movies we bought some snacks such as popcorn, fizzy and chocolate.  The movie we watched was Taken 3.  When the movie was finished we went home and went sleep.

Going to Inflatable World. We arrived at Inflatable World Manukau. I ran inside and all I could see was kids running around. Once we got our wristbands we went straight to the obstacle course. When we had enough we then went to get some food. And that was our day at Inflatable world .

We got to the Ice skating rank in Botany. Me and my cousin put on some skates and started to skate. My foot was starting to feel sore so I took the skates of and my sock and their it was … A blister. We were there for about an hour and a half, I told my mum I had had enough so we went home .

The next day we took my cousin for one more outing in Mangere. A few weeks after that he went back home to Rarotonga.

And the was my fabulous week with my cousin ! :)


This task was telling me to write about my holidays. I had to write about what I did with my family and where we went. I learnt about what you can do with a small piece about your holiday and turning it into something big.
