Dear Tonga RLWC 2017 Team,
To the one and only Mate Ma'a Tonga team. I congratulate you all for your victory throughout the Rugby League World Cup. I am so sad to here about your only loss to the England RLWC Team. You all played undisputedly well. It was quite a tough match but I'm sure all of your biggest MMT fans are very proud of what you have accomplished as a team. It wasn't the result we all wanted but you all played very well and everyone is so proud of you all.
My family and I all enjoyed watching the game as the MMT team made there biggest comeback at the half-way time. I personally enjoyed watching you all succeed and all grow as a team through-out the whole game and World cup itself. It was so amazing how the team caught up in the last 10 minutes. My favourite try of the match was Tuimoala Lolohea's try because it was very excited to watch and everyone in my household were so hyped. You made history team. You made all the Pacific Island and Tongan supporters so proud including your very own King. You have showed everyone that a small nation like yours can go just as far as the bigger nations when you work hard and never give up. Congratulations for making the Semi's team. MMT!
Yours Sincerely,
Venetia :)

Pt England School - Manaikalani
Manaiakalani-
Manaiakalani is a film festival celebrated every year with the Tamaki Schools. If you didn't know Manaiakalani is a film fest that most schools in the Glen Innes and Panmure communities celebrate each year. Every class from each school in the Manaiakalni cluster have to make a movie of what ever topic they would like. It is then screened at the Sylvia Park Hoyts cinema to the whole of there school.
Last week on Friday Pt England School had our very own P.E.S film festival. We watched every class's movies in our hall and had loads of fun. Personally my favourite movie was Room 4's Taste Test movie because it was very funny and it was an interesting movie because they tasted new things I found out more about some food items.

The Hero Within!
Here is my literacy task was this week. This week we read a story about a girl who was bullied because she had a disease. We read the story and answered the questions given by our teacher. The story is linked onto the title so if you have free time check it out and read the story.
Maths Problems
Here is my weekly presentation from this week. This week our focus was on BEDMAS. We had a variety of questions ranging from simple like addition and subtraction to more difficult questions like division and multiplication. I have definitely learnt more from this presentation because sometimes I find BEDMAS quite difficult. At the end of this presentation on the last slide I have added 10 questions for you to answer so have a look and try out the questions.

Reflection - Term 3 2017
Makey Makey Term 3 2017 Reflection -
Last term our focus was on Makey Makey machines. We used makey makey to create our games on Scratch. Yvonne, Cameo and I created a tune using Scratch and the makey makey. First Zoey came into extension and taught us how the makey makey and scratch works.
Once we knew how they both worked we got on with our task. Our task was to create a tune or song on scratch. Then we had to create cardboard instruments using the things Zoe gave us. Once they were both created we hooked up the makey makey machine and proceeded on with our task of making a tune with makey makey.
Overall I found the task quite challenging because I personally do not have as much experience with scratch and everyone else. But it was a great experience to create a tune a nd instrument with the girls in my group because I got to know more about what they knew and what their interests were in making new things.

What is a good role model?
What it means to be a good role model. Are you a good role model, do you show support, encourage and show respect to other people? In this explanation writing I am going to be explaining the reasons of what a good role model is and how a good role model sounds and acts.
Good role models are the types of people who encourage, motivate and respect other people. Good role models encourage others to never ever give up, they motivate people to strive and succeed, respect their peers and treat others the way they want to be treated. For example one of my role models is my mama. My mama has always encouraged and motivated me throughout my life at school. My mama has always encouraged me and told me that I should never give up with the things I do and achieve.
To me being a good role model is someone who is positive all the way, confident with all things in life and someone who is bubbly and funny. Role models are people who are positive, being positive is a big thing in being a role model. Being a role model you have to be confident and face the challenges in life. You may not always be happy with the things you do but it’s best to be positive all the time. My mother is another role model of mine because she is very confident with the things she does, she is positive most of the time and always shows happiness towards others.
A role model is someone who is hard-working, mature and self-talkative. Most of my role models are very hard-working and powerful women. They are very strong and mature and have believed in themselves all the way. My last two role models would have to be my teachers Mrs Ilaoa and Mrs Sio. The reasons why they are my two role models are because they are very hard-working. They work hard, never give up and always try to teach us new things at school. Our class can be a handful or more sometimes but my two role model teachers are always strong and push us until we succeed.
So now that you’ve read my story about “Role Models” are you strong, powerful and motivational enough to be a good role model? Everyone has the strength to be a role model. So use your strength and become a better role model then you already are!

Musical Madness!!!
Musical Madness!!! Yay, the term has officially started. This terms topic is "Musical Madness". Today we had our whole school immersion assembly where each year level/team performed an item based around the topic "Musical Madness". This term the topic is going to be based around composing music, how it fits into story telling and how it affects our emotions and lots more.
The assembly started off by our senior management team performing there item/song called "Musical Madness". They sang their song about musical madness and talked to the school about our topic and what we are doing this term. My favourites teams by far were Team's 3 , 4 & 5. I found Team 3's item interesting because it was about story telling through music. Their aim this term was to tell stories using music and sounds.
Moving on to Team 4. Team 4's item was movie of their teachers in car lip-syncing to different songs. Their aim this term was to find out more about music and make there own instruments. Then the best team (Team 5). Team 5's item was a live item of the teachers watching a movie and how music affects the mood. They played a series of different music sounds and to the same movie and chose which one fits in the best. Their aim this team is how music affects the mood and how it fits into movies.
Overall I am looking forward to Term 4. I am so interested and excited to learn more about music and how it affects our lives. I enjoyed this terms immersion assembly and I can't wait to learn about "Musical Madness".

Floundering Project!
FLOUNDERS!!! They caught more than twenty flounder's!!!!!!!! Today the whole of Pt England School gathered together for our very first Floundering project. We started off at the hard courts where the whole school gathered to get ready to walk down to the Tamaki Estuary. Twelve Pt England students were chosen to go down to the beach and gather at least 4 baby flounders for our floundering project with Kauri Flats School. As we got to the place where we were watching the project we sang a few waiata's. We had a prayer in hope of catching flounders and staying safe in this weather. We then headed back to school.
Flounder is a flatfish specie. In New Zealand most flounder live up to two years old with a few living up to five. According to fish scientists female flounder live more then male flounder. Flounder usually have an oval/flattened shaped body. If you didn't know flounder are actually carnivores meaning they are meat eaters. They eat things like smaller fish, crabs and shrimps. Here is a picture of baby and adult flounder.

Today the Yr 7 & 8 extension group got the oppurtunity to attend the GEGNZ Student Summit at Ormiston Junior College. More then 400 students from around Auckland attended this wonderful event. We did a variety of different workshops throughout the school that were based mostly on Technology.
Our extension group was one of the very first schools to arrive so we got the chance to look around there amazing school. Once we arrived we entered the auditorium where the Ormisiton Junior College students gave us some house keeping rules. Then we got into our 2 groups. Our extension group was spilt into 2, we had a PENN group and a Scratch group. Each group got to present and also go to other workshops.
The day started off at the school auditorium where we gathered with all schools to talk about the event and house-keeping rules. Once that was completed we then moved on to either present or do a workshop. It was time for my group (PENN) to present. In our presentation we taught the students about how we do our news network at school and how it operates.
Meanwhile the other group (Scratch) were doing workshops taught by other students from different schools. Once both groups were done presenting we both we around to the workshops.
Overall I enjoyed the GEGNZ Student Summit. I enjoyed learning things from other schools. I think that the event was really enjoyable and it taught me a variety of things.

Term 2 Reflection
Have you ever had to create a game using code?
For the past 10 weeks (whole term) Presayus, Yvonne and I have been creating a game using code based on space. Mrs Lagitupu gave us the task to create a space game using code from what we knew from the previous term. Personally I felt that this task was pretty challenging because I am not the best coder ad I don't have as much knowledge as the others.
Beginning the game was quite easy. It was a simple first level but as we moved up in levels it became harder and harder. It started off by creating our sprites and backdrops for the game. Then we had to start coding to move our sprite and eventually it became an actual game.
My group faced quite a bit of challenges. We had problems throughout our whole game. Luckily we had Zoe and some of the other students to help us with our game. I think level three was the one with the most challenges by far.
The highlight of last term would have to be actually creating a game because I don't think I would ever be able to make a game. I felt like term two went really slow which means there were more problems and challenges. Overall I actually enjoyed term three and I enjoyed creating a space game with Yvonne and Presayus

Let's Rock Term 3!
The term has officially started! Let's rock Term 3! This terms topic is "Guardians of the galaxy". Today we had our term 3 starting immersion assembly. This event happens every beginning of the term. This term is going to be based mostly on the planets around Earth, the solar system and taking care of our planet.
Our term 3 immersion assembly was so interesting and fun. It started as Mr Somerville flew the drone from the back of the hall to the stage as if it was a UFO. Suddenly two alien looking creatures emerged from the side of the stage as they started a battle with the earths protectors, Mr Jacobsen and Mr Somerville. Eventually the earths protectors won the battle. It turns out the two alien looking creatures were just Mr Burt and Mrs Nua.
After there wonderful item it was finally time for Team 1 to show off there moves. Team 1's item was a video of the teachers flying to the sun, moon and mars. There focus for this term is planets. Team 2's item was a remake of a David Bowie song rewritten by Ms Gaston. There focus is on space. Team 3's item was quite interesting. There item was a video about a day in there lives. From calling your friend to having fun in the weekends. There focus is on the seasons changing. Team 4's made a video as there item based on the Mars one project. Finally Team 5 (THE BEST). Team 5's item was a live concert of the teachers singing a spacey version of the Moan classic "How far I'll go".
I really enjoyed Teams 4-5 items because they showed interest in my age year. There items were interesting yet fun. I am really looking forward to this term because I think the topic is cool and I would like to do my learning to the best of my abilities.
