Walt: know that other people might take a different judgement from the same information.
Our task was to write about what people think about sharks. We had to read the text and try and find out what they think about sharks. We had to try and think of what they would say about sharks and then write it as a answer.

Newspaper Tower
Walt: write a detailed introduction with hook and orientation.
Have you ever had a class challenge where you have to make a newspaper tower? Our teacher is pretty crazy, first it was chicken worms now this, too much coffee. This is how it went down.
Have you ever had a class challenge where you have to make a newspaper tower? Our teacher is pretty crazy, first it was chicken worms now this, too much coffee. This is how it went down.
We came in to our literacy class just like always until our teacher said “okay guys put your netbooks away in a safe place”. So we did. We got into groups of 5 and sat down our groups. The people in my group were Presayus , Lani , Olivia , Rosa and me. We were given materials such as 5 and a half sheets of paper a long strip of masking tape and a pair of scissors. Our group name was Rosalina’s group.
Mr Godwin then said “okay when I say go you will start making your tower, you only have eight minutes”. Screaming and shouting is what we were doing . We didn't know what to do until Rosa said “I know what to do, we’ll make a triangle”.
Our group then started to make a triangle. Once we made our triangle we had to give it some support so we got some paper and stuck it underneath the triangle. The teacher said “two minutes to go”, we panicked a little but we got over it. Mr Goodwin then said “Times up”, we were quite happy with what we produced until we started doing measurements. Rosalina then went to go and grab the ruler, Mr Goodwin measured ours and Talitas team. We were hoping that we won until Mr Goodwin said “by half an inch Talitas team has won”. We were a bit disappointed. And that is my Newspaper tower recount.
Description
Our task was to make a paper tower using limited materials. It had to be the tallest. Our task was write a interesting story about what had happen. I learnt that it can be hard working in groups but if you just keep calm and carry on you will be a good group.
My camp experience
Walt: organise my ideas into paragraphs and link them together.
Allstars Allstars whoop there it is. Did you know that this camp was the 25th anniversary? Yup our school camp has been going on for 25 years.
Sleeping in tents, getting up early and secretly eating in the night, what a fun camp. Our Year 5 & 6 camp is when all the students of Classes 6 , 7 , 8, 9 and 10 have an outdoor experience on our school field, even though its on our school field we get to have lots of fun. We get to sleep in tents, since there is so many tents we call it Tent city. The people in my tent were Adriel and Lahval. On our first night we got to watch a movie, the movie we watched was The Lego Movie. The next night we have our concert, each group gets to perform.
One of my camp highlights were Killzone, well actually it used to be called Top Tower. The reason I liked it was because we did it as a team, we tried hard and used our strength. Even though we won our round we didn't win the whole game. My favourite part of it was the balloon fight. The balloons were our ammunition. It was a hard but fun challenge, I really enjoyed it.
My other highlight was Kayaking. I liked Kayaking because when I was in the double Kayak with Waimaria she nearly fell out. It was fun because when I was in the single Kayak I was going really fast. It was extra fun because I got an easter egg from Miss Va’afusuaga for being a good Kayaker and listening to all instructions. Have you ever been Kayaking before?
I think camp this year was really fun because I enjoyed everything and had a great time. Camp is awesome. I’d like to do it again but unfortunately I can’t because I am a year 6. Well atleast I had a fantastic time, plus I've got Kawau Island to go to.
This task asked me to write a recount about camp. We had to do an intro, details about camp, two highlights and a conclusion. One idea per one paragraph. One person had to mark your intro. They had to mark it by hook and orientation.

Auckland Maritime Museum Experience
This Wednesday the 18th of March 2015 the Extension group were given an opportunity to experience the crew of Hikianalia. This is the Malama Honua worldwide voyage, this means "to care for our earth".
First we met Frazer he was one of our instructors, we then met Miki. Miki is apart of the Hikianalia crew. We started our day of by getting into groups. Each group then went to different activities. One group went to the Star Compass activity, Peace flags and the tour of Hikianalia.
Our first activity was the Peace Flag activity . We had to write our thoughts and draw pictures of what we care about. We had to draw and write these things on a piece of material. You could draw our world, Plants, Love, Family and more. Our messages and drawings were then sewn together quilt. When they go to another country they will give it to another school.
Our next activity was the tour on the Hikianalia. We were split into groups of 5/6. Each group went to a different place on the Waka. The first thing we did was put life jackets on. We then went to a different part of the Waka. We got to the part of the waka where they put the sales up, we got to put the sale up. We also got to see the Control room, where they sleep, toilet and kitchen area.
The last activity we did was the Star Compass. The person who was telling us about the Compass was Kalepa Baybayan, he is 1 of 4 people in the world to know how to use a Star Compass. He taught us some words and actions, these actions and words are the different directions. The directions were East, West, South, North and more. This is what you call traditional navigation.
After our last activity we had lunch. Once we finished our lunch we had to lock our bags away. We said our goodbyes, it was time to go. Iisa then said a speech to the instructors.
Then we got to look around the rest of the museum. I really enjoyed meeting the crew of Malama Honua, Hikianalia. After that we went to Silo park to wait for our bus. The bus arrived and we went back to school.

Ana's experience at Camp
Walt:make connections across a wide range of texts.
Today I have visited Ana's blog. I am on her blog to find out information about the Year 5 and 6 camp.
In her recount she was telling a story about her feelings, what she likes and what she was nervous about. I found out that her favorite activity was kayaking because it was her first time .
Her story also told me that she was a bit nervous about the top town activity due to her not knowing what to do. They started there camp day off by baking cookies and catching some eels and fish for afternoon tea.
Ana's story made me quite excited about camp . She gave me information about what she likes and what she didn't quite like. Her favorite thing was kayaking and that was my favorite to. I'm looking forward to this year, I wonder what I'm going to like this year?
Shout out to Ana V for doing an excellent blog post about her Year 5 and 6 camp experience .

This introduction is about going to Oamaru creek for the river talks. We went to the river talks for a demonstration about our disgusting river and what we can do to make it clean. For the past week we have been marking each others rubric for the hook and orientation.
Venetias Advice Blog-Kakapo
Walt: look beyond the text
This is my advice blog, my advice is about Kakapo birds. This task was telling me to send some advice to Langi about Kakapo. Langi had wanted a bit of advice about the Kakapo birds itself , what does endangered mean and what does protected native species mean. Look at this presentation to find out about Kakapo brids.
