Floundering Project!

FLOUNDERS!!! They caught more than twenty flounder's!!!!!!!!  Today the whole of Pt England School gathered together for our very first Floundering project. We started off at the hard courts where the whole school gathered to get ready to walk down to the Tamaki Estuary. Twelve Pt England students were chosen to go down to the beach and gather at least 4 baby flounders for our floundering project with Kauri Flats School. As we got to the place where we were watching the project we sang a few waiata's. We had a prayer in hope of catching flounders and staying safe in this weather. We then headed back to school.

Flounder is a flatfish specie. In New Zealand most flounder live up to two years old with a few living up to five. According to fish scientists female flounder live more then male flounder. Flounder usually have an oval/flattened shaped body. If you didn't know flounder are actually carnivores meaning they are meat eaters. They eat things like smaller fish, crabs and shrimps. Here is a picture of baby and adult flounder.

To celebrate Maori language week at Pt England school the senior Kapa Haka group performed to the whole school. Also throughout the week Whaea Saf has been teaching the Team 5 block some Maori phrases that helped brighten our day up. This week the maori leadership team presented there Korero to the school. The Korero this week was Whanaungatanga, meaning "Acting as a Family". Overall I enjoyed Maori Language Week this week. Reflecting Shapes

WALT:Rotate, Reflect & Translate shapes

In today's math class we started learning about shapes and seeing them from different perspectives. We talked about how it would look like if we rotated shapes or how it would look in a reflection. Carrying on from our maths learning I then did a 10 question quiz about resizing shapes. Here are two questions from the quiz I did. The first pictures is a question I found easy because I knew about it. The second picture I have is a question I found difficult

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!
Image result for happy fathers dayThis Weekend I celebrated Fathers day with my family. We started our day off by having a delicious breakfast at home. Then we went for a drive to the cemetery to visit my beloved grandpa. After spending time with my pa we then headed to Sam Woos to celebrate fathers day. Last but not least after we ate we went to Carls Junior to have dessert. Overall I really enjoyed the fathers day weekend with my family. I was a good time for us to bond and spend time with one another.

Happy Fathers day to all the fathers out there in the world. Also happy fathers day to the mothers who have to play the mother and father role in there child's life. I hope you all had an amazing day with your children and family. Happy Fathers Day! Ofa Atu xo
