Te Taiao O Tamaki

What it is?

Te Taiao O Tamaki is a saying us Manaiakalani schools use. It means, The Environment Of Tamaki. This year that is one of the focuses in all Manaiakalani schools. It simply means our environment.

As most local people now we have the Pt England Beach. We have the Glen Innes and Panmure pools and even the Oamaru creek. 2 years ago I attended an event called River Talks. The river talks was held at the Oamaru creek. At the river talks we talked about our river. Why is it so polluted? Why is it green?

Some people from the area talked to us about how it was back in the day. You could swim in it they said. Most people know how this is caused. It is caused by us throwing rubbish away. The rubbish can go through drains, fly and eventually end up in our now disgusting river.  We talked about how we could fix the problem too. We all agreed to help clean up our river and community.

On the other hand Pt England Beach isn’t the best either. As most people know we have had some pollution at the beach too. Our beach was filled with rubbish at some point. Does that effect the community?

Te Taiao O Tamaki, The Environment Of Tamaki. As a student of Pt England School and a child from the area I expect our area to be clean and healthy for the next generations. I want them to have green grass, clean waterways, everything. What if our water gets so polluted everyone moves out of the community? What is going to happen for the next generations?

Dear Council,

My name is Venetia. I am a year 8 student at Pt England School. The reason why I am sending you this letter is because I would like you to fix this on going problem of our water. What can we do to fix it? How can our country help? Why is there not enough water?

What is our problem? Our problem is our water. Why is there not enough for our country? My suggestion would be you fix this problem so there can be enough water for our whole country to enjoy. Wouldn't it be cool if everyone in the country had enough water?

All im asking is for you to fix this problem. Can you imagine our earth without water in 100 years? Our earth is losing a lot of water. If our country can do it then maybe the rest of the world can. Can you listen to your people for once?

Who is my Role Model?

Introduction	Who is my role model? My role model is my beautiful nana Maria . My nana is a beautiful hard-working lady. My nana is my world, she means everything to me. She loves everyone with all her heart. She is such a wonderful person. She has the best personality in the world.
Information 1st element	My nana raised me the best she could. She fed me, put a shelter over my head, she did everything. My nana raised me from 1 years old till now. She still calls me her baby even though i’m 12.  I have always been inspired by my nana. She is very unique. She likes to do things her own way. My nana has taught me a lot of things over the years. My nana loves the lord. She goes to the PIPC church on Pt England Rd. She loves going to church.
Information 2nd element	My nana comes from the Islands of Rarotonga and Tahiti. She is very passionate about her culture, she loves it dearly. My nana came to New Zealand from Rarotonga alone when she was only 14 years old. My great-grandma died when my nana was very young so she didn't know much about her. I love my nana dearly because she is a strong lady, she loves me, cares for me and raised me.
Information 3rd element	To be honest with you my nana makes the best food in the world. From my point of view her food is better than anyone else's on this earth. She makes the best potato soup, rukau, taro IT’S AMAZING. My life wouldn’t be the same without my nana's food. I will always look up to my nana. She is the most strongest, hardworking,most beautiful lady I know.
Conclusion	My nana means the world to me. I love her with all my heart, to the 7 earths and back. My life wouldn’t be the same without her. She is so special, no one can replace her. I love my nana because she makes delicious food, always tells me stories, puts a shelter over my head and raised me. I love her with all my heart <3.

Why do people need to drink water? Today I am going to be informing you about why you need to drink water and why it is important. Water is one of the main things in the world that is needed. 

Water feeds everything living thing on the earth. It feeds the living animals, the nature and even us. Water is important to us because you need it to survive. If we don’t drink enough water we can die. 

 Water can wash out all the bad fluids in your system so it can become healthy again. Water is important for us to drink because it is apart of our immune system and it can help fight of diseases. Drinking water can make your skin and body healthier and even help take your acne away. Water is so important to us.

 It can make us less cranky, have no headaches, help you lose weight and even help you have no joint pain. Water is very important because it helps your kidneys function properly and helps energize your muscles. 

Have you noticed yet? We need water more than anything in this world. It keeps us alive, it keeps our land alive, in fact it keeps the whole world alive. Are you going to drink water more often?

The Three Kete
